My Ian...

For those of you who know Ian, you know that he is my "special" little boy. He is so sweet and innocent. He had his fourth birthday on April 16th. He went to the dr. for his 4 year well check and the doctor was concerned about his lack of weight gain. He has only gained 2 lbs in the past year. So even though he has the McInelly small genes, the dr. wanted to make sure everything was going all right.

They did a full blood work up and a fat test on his poop, yay you heard me right. He did great when they took 5 viles of blood from him and he thought it was pretty cool that he got to pee in a cup and pooh in a "hat" (a thing at the hospital to collect that stuff). Any way his blood work came back fine, but the fat test came back showing that he isn't absorbing all the fat he should be and is pooping it out. So today I had to take him to get a sweat test done to rule out Cystic Fibrosis. He could have the GI part of CF. So anyway we are waiting to hear about that even though neither I or the dr. think that, that is the problem. But they want to make sure. He has an appointment with a GI specialist and he also is going to see a behaviorist for his quirkiness. He did not want to go into the room this morning for the sweat test because it was the same place as the blood draw, "No blood taken" he kept saying. He even took of running as we approached the lab door. I felt so bad for him and at the same time was so grateful that he wasn't one of the kids upstairs at Children's that face these things on a daily basis. I thank my Heavenly Father every day that my kids are healthy.
